The wonderful Wii U title ZombiU is making the transition from Nintendo to CurrentGen consoles and PC on 18th August. Ubisoft have officially confirmed the release date and the consoles it will be available on. (PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC)
Once it makes the transition across platforms, the game will drop the ‘U’ and be titled Zombi. Zombie games have become increasingly popular in recent years, due in part to the brilliant Call of Duty: Zombies game mode and more especially the incomparable Resident Evil series. Zombie culture has become a huge part of the fantasy world, and another game within this spectrum is welcome news.

Zombi is set in London, as players are surrounded by a horde of the undead, where the aim of the game is self-preservation and fending off the infected. It’s survival horror at its most brutal, as fending off zombies will have to be done with a limited supply of ammunition. There will be more melee weapons to choose from in this release, including a shovel and a baseball bat that is covered in nails, but the key elements to a survival horror game are certainly still there to see. One of the most recent zombie games I’ve been playing is Zombie Army Trilogy, and the premise of that game looks in some ways similar to that of Zombi.
Now, while the Wii U installment of this game could be considered a big success, it doesn’t automatically mean the version to be released on NextGen and PC will transition across smoothly, especially without the Wii U Gamepad and the two-player mode, but I would be hopeful all the same. Let us know what you think of this news, and any other zombie titles this game has the potential to rival, if any.
